It's time to end state government slush funds.
Currently, some state government officials can spend taxpayer money on their own WITHOUT taxpayer approval.
Governor Jared Polis used this power to pay for John Hickenlooper's defense attorneys with money meant for 9/11 recovery efforts.*
Attorney General Phil Weiser used this power to give state business to his own campaign donors.**
Amendment 78 will shut down the slush funds. This amendment will require that ALL state government spending is appropriated by the legislature and receives a public hearing.
The government shouldn't spend OUR money without OUR approval.
